Fish farmers spend 70% of their production on expensive feeds like soybeans and fishmeal due to the high cost of protein-rich fish feeds. This situation will affect Africa more. However, current technology transforms organic waste into food resources through bacteria, creating a circular economy and reducing the pressure on limited resources, such as wild fish.

Solution

EntoFeed has developed a technology that turns food waste into bacterial protein-based animal feed ingredients. These ingredients replace conventional fish and soy meal, providing a more sustainable alternative.

Insects, considered to be nature's greatest recyclers, can turn fruit and vegetable waste into valuable body mass very quickly and with low resource impact. A ton of insects can be grown in fourteen days using an area of just 20 square meters.
